The Clippers trade Marcus Camby to the Blazers, get Outlaw and Blake and Gooden, all three come off the books at the end of the season. This offseason, the Clippers will have the cap space to offer a major player a max contract, and have thus put themselves in the conversation with the other teams hoping to get into the LeBron James Free Agency Sweepstakes.
Unlike the Nets or Knicks, the Clippers have a better roster to offer. Baron Davis, a healthy Blake Griffin, an all-star in Chris Kamen, and a rising star in Eric Gordon. NY and NJ don't have anything to match that. Plus playing in a big market like Los Angeles, being the player to breath new life into a team like he did in Cleveland, being on the big stage with the Laker-Clippers rivalry, and right across the street from his #1 fans at ESPN are added benefits.
The Clippers will need to sign some other supporting players and they will need to bring in a name head coach, like Byron Scott or Avery Johnson.
I think LeBron to the Clippers could be a real possibility, as realistic as the possibility of teams like the Nets, Knicks or Bulls signing him.
